Going Free!

Might be fun to play once in a while like I'm going to try DDO. I was a beta tester and while the game was ok the lack of PvP was a complete turn off and I didn't buy it. The game could have been so much better with a shadow side and I guess that's what I was expecting.

LOTRO had PvP really close to launch. And honestly, the first night of mega PvP was MASSIVE FUN. We played monsters (I actually liked my monster character better than my "real" character). Just a massive battle of the bluge, they would push us back to keep after keep then we would get more people and push them back to keep after keep and so on. It was a single battle that lasted for hours and hours and hours.

Then I worked for a week, logged on the following weekend, stepped into the PvP zone and it was a ghost town. Sadly, it remained that way until I stopped playing. =( But that one night was sooooOOOOooooo much fun. I really wish we had a fraps of it!

The Moors, as Etenmoors the PvPM (Player vs. Player Monster, is still active. It's over or under population sways back and forth. I don't know off hand which times are more or less populated on Landroval. Also i've heard by this point there have developed Servers where it's more popular than others...

I don't play Creep side, and I need to re-max level my Burglar before I can head out there and make any difference...

The PvP was fun if immensely frustrating at times-back when I ran around as a monster the Free Peoples were much stronger then us creeps were, and what made it worse was there was so little advancement that could be made without Freeps around to flip map points back. At it's best a creep ran around in a small pack and hit the Freeps hard before disappearing into the fog. At it's worst a creep fought some of the largest zergs I've ever seen in an MMO-we're talking 50+ Freeps all standing almost on top of each other, moving only as a group. It was a good tactic but would quickly lead to stalemates and boredom.

When LotRO goes free I'll definitely play, especially since I should be VIP due to prior subscriptions. It was always a game I enjoyed but had a hard time getting into for some reason.

Well there is more to do now once you control the Map. Which ever side is in control of the Map has Access to an Underground Dungeon. When entrance access changes your not forced out, but you can't re-enter and reiforcements can't get to you until the flip control of the Map.

As for Creep Advancement.... I'm not too knowledgable, but I know there is some there, probably about ten or so levels of skill/attribute improvments. Also items can be obtained that help you track down the Freeps.

Balance of Each sides numbers varies from server to server and time zone to time zone...
